WEEK 1 - DAY 3
HOPE IN THE SHADOWS
VERSE
ISAIAH 9:1-2
Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom for those who were in distress. In the past he humbled the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the future he will honor Galilee of the nations,
by the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan— 2 The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.

DEVOTIONAL
Hope often grows in the shadows. The people of Israel knew darkness deeply. They lived through war, silence from God, and long seasons of unanswered questions. Yet Isaiah spoke a promise that
light was coming. Many of us carry shadows too. Places where we feel afraid, unsure, or tired of waiting. Advent reminds us that God meets us in those shadows with hope that does not depend on
circumstances. You don’t have to see the whole path to know God is leading you. You just need to trust that the light is on its way.

REFLECT
What part of your life feels dim or uncertain right now?
How might God be bringing hope there?
How might God be bringing hope there?
PRAYER
Jesus, shine Your light on the places where I feel afraid. Give me hope that lasts. Amen.
PRACTICE
Light a candle tonight and sit with it for a minute. Let it represent hope.
