WEEK 1 - DAY 1

HOPE: The Prophecy Candle

DEVOTIONAL

Advent always begins in the quiet. Before a single carol is sung, before any lights are hung, Scripture invites us into a holy kind of stillness. The very first candle we light is the Prophecy Candle, the candle of
Hope. Hope is not loud. It doesn’t always feel exciting. Hope is often a small flame in a dark room, something simple yet strong enough to steady your heart when everything else feels uncertain. This candle reminds us that long before Jesus was born, God spoke promises through the prophets. Centuries passed. Generations waited. People longed for answers. Yet God was writing a story far greater than anyone could see. When we light this first candle, we step into that same posture. We wait. We listen. We turn our hearts toward God with trust that He is working in places we cannot see.

This week, you are invited to look honestly at the places where you need hope. You don’t have to pretend. Advent is honest about longing, disappointment, fear, and waiting. But it is also honest about
the faithfulness of God. Whether you live alone or your home is full of children, take time this week to slow down. Light the candle. Let the glow remind you that God still keeps His promises.

Hope is rising.
