WEEK 1: SEEK GOD FIRST IN YOUR HEART
DAY 5
PRAYER FOCUS: Honest Prayer
“Pour out your hearts to him…” — Psalm 62:8
Honesty is transformational because it removes the barrier between you and God. He already knows the truth, but saying it out loud adjusts your posture. When you stop performing and start being real, prayer becomes a place of rest instead of pressure.
Honesty doesn’t need to sound spiritual. It just needs to be true. You can tell God you’re tired, confused, hopeful, frustrated, grateful, numb, or unsure. He receives it all without hesitation. When you speak freely, you shift from trying to impress God to truly connecting with Him.
PRACTICE:
Tell God one thing you’ve been avoiding saying - without filtering it.
PRAYER:
God, I bring the truth of my heart to You - the parts I’ve ignored, the thoughts I’ve minimized, the feelings I’ve kept quiet. Help me stop hiding from You. Meet me in the places I’m most human. Give me freedom to pray honestly, without fear or performance. Teach me to see honesty as an invitation into Your presence. Heal what’s hurting and strengthen what’s weary. Amen.
REFLECTION:
What honest sentence would I say to God if I stopped editing myself?
