DEVOTIONAL GUIDE

WEEK 1: SEEK GOD FIRST IN YOUR HEART

DAY 3

PRAYER FOCUS: Returning Your Heart to God

“You have forsaken the love you had at first.” — Revelation 2:4

Drift happens slowly. Not intentionally. Not rebelliously. Just quietly. The heart becomes crowded. Faith becomes routine. Prayer becomes something you fit in when you can. This is why Jesus invites His people to return to their first love - not because they failed, but because they drifted.

Returning doesn’t mean recreating past feelings. It means bringing your attention back to the relationship that anchors you. It means remembering the simplicity of loving Jesus - not for what He can do, but for who He is.

The early love you had for God wasn’t about spiritual performance. It was about openness. Curiosity. Gratitude. Desire. Those qualities can return, but they rarely come back through pressure. They come back through intention.

Returning is slow. Gentle. Human. You might feel something. You might not. Either way, the act of turning your heart toward God again is enough to begin renewal.

PRACTICE:
Choose one worship song that once helped you feel close to God. Sit with it and notice what stirs.

PRAYER:
Jesus, I turn my heart back to You. I don’t want to drift through my spiritual life. Renew my affection. Restore my attention. Bring back a simple love that isn’t rushed or forced. Remove the numbness that comes from distraction or disappointment. Help me recognize the places where my love has grown thin and breathe new desire into me. Bring me back to the basics of loving You - steady, sincere, and present. Amen.

REFLECTION:
What parts of my relationship with God once felt alive that I want to return to?
