WEEK 3: SEEK GOD FIRST IN YOUR PURPOSE
DAY 15
PRAYER FOCUS: Allowing God to Shape Your Desires
“Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” — Psalm 37:4
Desires are powerful. They drive decisions, shape emotions, and influence relationships. But desires are also formable. They shift as you draw near to God. Spiritual maturity isn’t about suppressing desire - it’s about surrendering desire so God can reshape it.
To “delight in the Lord” means to place Him at the center of your affection, attention, and trust. As you do, the desires of your heart become aligned with His wisdom. You begin to want what leads to life, peace, purpose, and holiness.
Some desires need to be strengthened. Others need to be surrendered. Some are being birthed in you by the Spirit, and others need to be released because they drain your soul. Inviting God into your desires is one of the most transformative practices in spiritual formation.
PRACTICE:
Write down three desires you currently hold. Pray over them: “God, shape these according to Your will.”
PRAYER:
Lord, I offer my desires to You - the ones I understand and the ones I don’t. Shape what needs shaping. Strengthen what is from You. Remove what distracts me or pulls me away from Your best. Align my longings with Your character and Your purposes. Help me desire what is good, holy, healthy, and honorable. Form my inner world, so it reflects Your wisdom. Amen.
REFLECTION:
Which desire in my heart needs God’s shaping the most?
